Sr Financial Analyst

The Engineering Finance organization has an opportunity for an experienced analyst who will be responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of the IT organization’s Overhead and Direct Labor budgets. This person will have significant interaction with RMS IT leadership, Raytheon Corporate personnel, and the RMS FP&A group. This newly created role is a chance to get in on the ground floor to help a large organization formulate new ways to aggregate and understand spend areas to help drive business decision within the 3rd largest RMS organization (by total spend).

The RMS IT leadership team is located in building M10, so frequent travel to M10 for meetings and discussions is to be expected.

The person chosen for this role will:

Obtain a breadth of knowledge of the IT organization’s responsibilities, scope and cost structure

Help develop, analyze, and report performance on all aspects of IT spend including

Over-head budgets of approximately $200M per year and direct labor of approximately $12M annually

Build business cases and calculate resource needs for IT led efficiency and affordability

projects affecting all RMS organizations and personnel

Perform overhead spend trade-off assessments to determine the most effective use of IT

overhead dollars

Work with both Raytheon Corporate and Raytheon Global Business Services (GBS) to

account for IT projects led by those groups (corporate allocations), and to provide

information and reporting back to GBS

Aggregating and reporting out significant spend for several large vendors

Provide guidance to the IT organization to help drive performance and emphasize

improvement opportunities

Analyze and forecast remaining annual spend and communicate to the Budgets and

Resource Management teams within the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) group using

standard company tools and processes

Ensure staffing / Rplan manpower alignment for the IT organization’s activities

Minimum Required Skills:

Minimum 4 years professional experience in business discipline with bachelor’s degree or 2 years of experience with master’s degree

Strong experience with Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas)

Experience using other Microsoft Office tools (including Word and PowerPoint)

Experience with project or task financial management and support including analyzing budgets, monitoring actual cost data, developing forecasts, and providing variance analysis

Understanding of business management principles, concepts and practices and the ability to provide potential solutions for cost and schedule performance issues

Experience using financial software systems (such as SAP R/3, Oracle Hyperion)

Able to meet critical deadlines and develop and apply solutions and process improvements

Must be able to obtain security clearance

Highly Desired Skills:

Familiarity and experience working on overhead budgets

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Experience using SAP Business Systems software

Experience with financial evaluations of production programs, engineering projects, and/or process improvements– strong understanding of what is driving variance within data sets

Understanding of Accounting standards and practices

Experience working in a matrix environment

Experience using Earned Value Management techniques

Defense Contracting Finance work experience

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing information and conditions

Minimum Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor’s degree in business (finance, accounting or economics preferred), or mathematics with 4 years of experience or Master Degree with 2 years of experience
