Sr Contract Negotiator

The Airborne Solutions (AS) program area of Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems (IIS) has an opportunity for a contracts professional to join its team at the Indianapolis, Indiana location as a Senior Contracts Negotiator supporting multiple U.S. Government and prime customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for management of various types of contracts/task orders, analyzing terms and conditions, processing change order requests and performing Contract Risk Analysis covering any significant or unusual financial, technical or schedule risks. The Senior Contracts Negotiator will serve as the single point of contact with the customer and with Raytheon functional leads for all contractual matters. Candidate must be able to readily adapt in a challenging, fast-paced environment dealing with complex contracting matters. Candidate must have the ability to work independently with minimal oversight, be able to research compliance issues, interpret regulations, and formulate recommendations.

The individual in this role will be responsible for analyzing Request for Proposals (RFP) and leading contract negotiations. This position will also be responsible for analyzing other business agreements and contracts with the U.S. Government and commercial companies. Additionally, responsibilities will include working closely with Program Managers and other program functions to construct, submit and negotiate pricing proposals, providing support to senior management regarding contractual and business issues, ensuring that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies, and advising management of contractual rights and obligations and mitigation of contractual/program risks.


Required Skills:
  • Six or more years of experience in the fields of Contract Management, Negotiations, Program Management, Law or related fields (preferably within the Defense Industry)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience working with FAR, DFARS, TINA, ITAR, etc. and/or equivalent government regulations
  • Experience in generating and negotiating complex proposals/contracts with an intimate understanding of terms and conditions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office® suite (primarily Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Proven ability to solve problems, develop solutions, and assist the business leaders in achieving their financial and performance goals and objectives
  • Provide support to front-end strategic assessment of business pursuits, including negotiation strategy
  • Act as the primary focal point for customer interface with Company during all phases of contract performance
  • Excellent and effective written & verbal communication skills (formal correspondence to customers) with strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and work within a team and to foster teamwork and trust
  • Capable of multi-tasking and handling several assignments
  • Ability to research compliance issues, applicable regulations and laws, and formulate recommendations to management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and with minimal oversight.

  • Knowledge of program management principles

Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Law, Finance, or related field
  • JD (with transactional experience) or MBA a plus
