Job Title: Trainee Project Scheduler

Location(s): Glenrothes


Summary of Role:

Opportunity for a recent graduate to train as a project controller. The project controller will learn to provide project planning and cost control support to integrated project teams (IPT’s) throughout the life cycle of a project. The individual will become proficient in project planning, earned value analysis and estimate at completion processes and will aid IPT’s to achieve favorable performance indicators.

Main Duties:

  • Maintain an Integrated Mater Schedule (IMS) ensuring that all planned activities, events and milestone are logically linked and fully resourced with labour hours, materials, and subcontract payments.
  • Status the IMS weekly/monthly and provide an accurate Cost to Complete (ETC) for financial reporting.
  • Ensure contractual and programme changes are incorporated into the IMS to maintain a realistic baseline.
  • Maintain, analyse and provide Earned Value reports on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor the Programme Timesheet Bookings to ensure these are within budgets and report consequences of late submittal/unapproved bookings.
  • Facilitate Programme Risk Review Boards to identify and document project risk. Identification and tracking of mitigation actions and reporting.
  • Support the Programme Manager, CAMs and Programme Accountant to establish budget authorisations. Monthly collation and analysis of finance data such as schedule derived Estimates To Complete (ETCs).
  • Set up Programme Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Organisational Breakdown Structures (OBS).
  • Support Bid and Proposal activities through the collation and transfer of Basis of Estimates into the Pricing Team
  • Travel to other Raytheon UK Sites (UK, Europe and USA) may be required





Candidate Requirements:

Essential:
  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent.
·Positive “can do” attitude
·Team player
·Good interpersonal skills
·Potential to support and guide Programme Managers and their Teams
·Good written and verbal communication skills
·Good IT skills with the ability to learn new applications
·Ability to work with diverse project teams and stakeholders

Desirable:
  • Financial management or planning experience
  • Experience of Microsoft Project 2010
  • Commercial Awareness



Personal Characteristics:


  • This position will require a considerable amount of interaction with all levels of management, which will require strong interpersonal skills to assert best practice in an environment of competing priorities.
  • Flexible approach to all tasks
