Location: Harlow or Glenrothes
To take overall responsibility for the execution of all Quality Assurance and product certification activities in relation to the RUK Weapons & Sensors business. This includes all design, development, manufacturing, support and certification activities.
To drive unquestionable product and service quality throughout the business whilst promoting a culture of continuous improvement. To identify and facilitate systematic improvement of the management system.To establish, manage and develop a high performing team. To be a key member of the RUK Quality leadership team.
•The creation of a strong Quality Assurance presence within the Weapons and Sensors business promoting a culture of excellence
•Strong leadership across the business developing a high performing Quality team and ensuring the appropriate resources are available to support programme requirements
•Create and deliver Quality strategy in support of the Weapons and Sensors business strategy
•Primary authority and customer interface on all Quality related matters
•Generation and maintenance of all company management systems and procedures to Quality Assurance for the Weapons and Sensors business
•Ensuring that all customer Quality requirements are understood and met across the business programmes
•Manage non-conformances, corrective and preventative actions to closure
•Generation and implementation of robust QA work products, quality planning and process/programme audits to aid the prevention of quality defects
•Provide independent evaluation of product development lifecycles and processes
•Ensure defect investigations including facilitation of root cause analysis are undertaken as appropriate across the business
•Support bid proposals and development of estimates and reporting on programme performance to business leads at review meetings – hosting customers and other audits by external agencies and regulators. Ensure appropriate QA and CM resources are available to support programmes.
•Responsible for product release verification audits and certification
•Ensure compliance of all Weapons and Sensors activity to the QA procedures and processes through governance and audit
•Application of quality tools and techniques to facilitate the resolution of quality issues
•To proactivity identify and facilitate the elimination of waste and cost of poor quality from the business operations fostering an environment of continuous improvement
•Application of risk management techniques to assess, prevent and minimise quality issues
•Responsible for the maintenance of ISO9001 and other designated approvals
•Responsible for ensuring the Business area Quality Management system is compliant with statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements
•Continued awareness of regulatory and customer requirements
•Manage and deliver against agreed AOP
•Report on the performance of the Weapons and Sensors management system to both the business lead and Head of Quality.
•Experienced in a senior Quality Management role within a large design, development and manufacturing organization
•Quality engineering experience within a manufacturing and or engineering organisation
•A passionate dynamic leader with a strong presence and who is able to motivate, inspire and foster a customer centric quality culture
•An excellent communicator at all levels of the business and to outside customers and stakeholders
•A creative forward thinker who can also a put a management structure, process, tools and governance in place to ensure the Business is high performing and can continually delight its customers with conforming product and low levels of defects
•Effective problem solving skills
•Flexible and positive attitude
•Fully conversant with the requirements of ISO9100
•Certified Chartered Quality Engineer
•Lead Auditor ISO9001/AS9100
•Knowledge of EFQM assessment model
