The Public Affairs Manager is responsible for developing third party strategies and executing these campaigns focused on all avenues of influence in Washington DC, to include but not limited to think tanks, former government officials, public policy organizations and other key influencers to ensure these groups understand Raytheon's strategic priorities and technologies. These campaigns must be developed using all communications channels (in surround sound) and in strong partnership with corporate and business communications leadership teams, government relations, business development, corporate strategy, and Raytheon International. The focus is to drive interaction with and strategic messaging to key contacts in the DC area, with additional international engagement as needed. This position requires working with more senior stakeholders internally and externally.
·Experience in public policy advocacy campaigns, to include understanding of, and experience with, the role of think tanks in shaping the views of governmental and non-governmental participants in the policy process
·Solid experience in the defense industry related to business development, Congressional relations, and public policy organization advocacy in the United States and internationally
·Experience and/or expertise related to think tank engagement or public policy organization
·Knowledge of Congress and/or experience working as a Congressional staffer and/or lobbying organization
·Min of 10 years of experience working in the areas listed above
·Bachelor’s degree in business, communications or related field
·Excellent oral and written communication skills
·The ability to make sound decisions in stressful business situations
·The ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization with business and communications leadership teams
·Demonstrated networking capabilities among various communities, e.g. acquisition officials/leads in the Department of Defense and other government agencies
·Experience working on key business pursuits for the company
·Knowledge of Raytheon's business priorities and core growth strategies, including awareness of competitive posture and international environment
·Understanding of the role that digital and social media play in shaping the views of policymakers and influencers in Washington
·Proficiency with PowerPoint
·Experience with the planning and execution of events such as public conferences and policy roundtables.
·Knowledge of non-U.S. based think tanks
