Responsibilities

Raytheon BBN Technologies (BBN) Intelligent Software and Systems department is seeking a Scientist/Engineer who possesses a breadth of expertise in cognitive and computational sciences. Candidates should have a strong desire to develop innovative solutions to a wide range of problems, from basic research to deployable systems. Qualified candidates will have expertise in a combination of areas such as psychology and human subjects research, statistical methods, training and tutoring, computer science, and project management. This position has the option of full or part time hours. Occasional travel required (less than monthly).

Required Education:
M.S. with 4+ years direct experience, or Ph.D. in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Educational Research, or a related field.

Required Skills:
• Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing human subjects experiments, particularly experiments featuring problem solving with computerized tasks, emphasizing information evaluation and judgement.
• Experience designing and conducting surveys, interviews, and lessons-learned activities involving teams and team performance
• Experience working collaboratively with computational scientists and engineers
• Effective and efficient written and oral communication
• Ability to work independently, scheduling and prioritizing according to overall project goals in a dynamic research environment

Desirable/Complementary Skills:
• Software engineering programming skills – Java, C++, Python
• Cognitive engineering applications
• Experience in Government-funded research and development
• Experience in writing proposals for Government funding
• Experience with project management

The candidate should be willing and able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
