The SAS Tactical Communication Systems Hardware Department is currently seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer. This position will primarily support design, development, and production focused around communication equipment and will be located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
The SAS Aberdeen Hardware Center mechanical engineering discipline offers challenging design opportunities in Electronic Packaging, Development and Integration. Committed to customer satisfaction, the mechanical engineering department personnel are responsible for the design/documentation, parts selection/standardization and environmental test of quality equipment, which meet or exceed the requirements of both military and commercial customers.
This is an entry level engineering position in the Mechanical Engineering Department. The candidate will support mechanical engineers in the design and development of Identification of Friend or Foe (IFF) and Crypto System, as well as qualification and production Test Equipment. The team develops and integrates electronic equipment on both mobile and stationary platforms. They perform research, design/development, support-to analysis (static/dynamic structural, thermal) and transition to production. The tasks include involvement with mechanical concepts, detail design, hardware selection, documentation and testing. Some hands-on work is anticipated during prototype builds.
The ideal candidate should possess all of our Required Skills, and one or more of the Desired Skills.
- Experience with mechanical design and CAD tools
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and be able to work in a team environment
- Some experience using Microsoft Office Products
- Eligibility to obtain a security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Experience with Creo CAD tool
- Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects is a plus.
Required Education: Bachelors of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Desired Education: Masters of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
