Responsibilities

Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Mission Assurance (MA) team enables engineering quality solutions and oversight. Most important is collaboration with our functional partners and customers (internal and external) to execute and solve problems quickly and efficiently. MA embeds itself throughout the Engineering lifecycle to prevent defects from reaching the warfighter and to ensure flawless program execution to meet quality, cost, schedule and technical objectives.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Hardware (HW) Quality Engineer (QE) to join the team at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Understands AS9100/ISO9001 Management Systems, Auditing, and Improvements
  • Assures product quality and effectiveness throughout all life-cycle phases
  • Collaborates closely with quality, operations, supply chain, and engineering personnel
  • Ensures programs and core processes meet customer/end user objectives
  • Closes quality issues through application of quality sciences and teamwork
  • Inspects test mechanisms and conducts quality assurance activities
  • Monitors and/or audits program operations or core processes
  • Grows others knowledge of quality standards, methods and procedures
  • Proactively interacts with team, management and the customer
  • Ensures completion of required documentation, identification of nonconformances and noncompliances, resolution and closure of open issues, and ensures quality and configuration of program assets
  • Flex work across quality disciplines and provides surge capability to programs during key events
  • Work long hours and/or weekends, when required, to meet program and missions objectives
  • Work in a field environment
  • Travels to and work in remote sites (domestic and international) to support program requirements
  • Works in hazardous environments exposed to energized equipment, radar radiation hazards, and unexploded ordnance
  • Assess work products to identify and eliminate in-/out- phase defects
  • Perform data analysis to drive root cause and correction action
  • Participate in test preparation and execution to ensure requirements verification
  • Review Risk and Opportunity data to lead projects to eliminate or reduce risks and/or realize opportunities
  • Investigate failures, participate in failure review boards, support failure investigation teams and drive root cause analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and agile work environments
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 requirements


Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with a minimum of 6 years Quality Engineering experience
  • Applied experience and knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100 quality management systems
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense development and or test programs as a quality engineer
  • Previous experience as a quality engineer in a field test environment
  • Experience with Radar Systems, Effectors (missiles, rockets, etc.), and systems-of-systems testing
  • Domain knowledge in field-testing
  • Ability to influence without authority, experience with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to review, analyze, and ensure compliance of Technical Data Package elements to standards and guidelines
  • Effective networking and presentation skills across, down, and up in a matrixed team environment
  • Working knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action processes and tools
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification
  • Existing Secret Clearance

Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer Engineering, Systems, or related Engineering or Computer Science discipline)
