The candidate will work as part of the THAAD Interoperability Communications Team supporting MDA THAAD objectives. The position consists of four major parts: Evaluation, Engineering, Test and Training.
Evaluation: The candidate must have the ability to do independent self-driven research of various current THAAD system communication equipment components, expose weakness and /or strengths, and recommend enhancements. Specific domains for consideration include cyber protection, bandwidth and throughput, reliability, form/fit factors and multi-functional ability.
Engineering: The candidate must have the ability and knowledge to engineer a communication plan for an exercise consisting of multiple BMDS system platforms. Communication plans include details for interconnecting tactical data links and voice operations. The candidate must have the ability to engineer and reverse engineer Ethernet based networks. The candidate must have the ability to engineer and develop communications packages with little or no guidance.
Test: The candidate must have the knowledge and ability to test all communication equipment within the THAAD LSC shelter. The equipment under test includes both data and voice subsystems such as PSC-5D, PRC-117G, MIDS, SMART-T, SNAP, MCSU, and Call Manager. The candidate must have the ability and knowledge to test software based link routers such as ADSI, JRE, CDLIM, and related link routers that potentially support a BMDS tactical data link network. The candidate must have knowledge of CCI/COMSEC equipment to include KG-175 family, multiple radio keying, KIV-7M and SKLs.
Training: The candidate must have the ability to compose a training packet on all communication equipment and software. The candidate must have the ability to train personnel in classroom, on-the-job, and in field environments. The training will have the audience of government employees, contractor and soldiers.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Military experience is preferred whether it is service time or support in the areas of communication and /or Air Defense
• Experience with Windows, Solaris, and Microsoft Office toolsets
• Proficient in CISCO technologies and be able to configure switches and routers
• Experience with code deployment in development, testing and production environments
• Ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements
• Ability to travel as required to various sites both CONUS and OCONUS
• Must be a US citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance
• Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college in engineering, the sciences or mathematics is preferred but not required if the right experience is presented.
